Immersing in Imagination: Chapter Four

Submitted by Maddi on Thu, 11/22/2012 - 06:00

Again, sorry its a short chapter. This thing called life is really holding me back. :) Just make sure you've read chapter 3 first. I think this one showed up before.

***

Rilla tugged her hand, pulling her towards the Underwater Kingdom. As they got closer, Elise could see the market place. They weaved through the bustling merchants and curious sea folk towards a towering crystal castle. A school of brightly coloured fish were crossing what seemed to be a busy path. There were rich merfolk riding in shell carriages drawn by graceful blue dolphins.

When they finally reached the pearl-structured gates, Elise paused to look up. What secrets awaited her beyond the seashell walls? As she went to take a step forward on the threshold, the tingling pain seared through her body. She gasped and grabbed wildly at Rilla, the pain racking her body.

“What. Is. Going. On?”
Rilla stared deep into her chocolate eyes.

“You’re getting transported.”
Everything started to melt and blur away. Only Rilla stood as a clear image. Her lips were moving.

“Come back tomorrow, tomorrow.”

“How, how?” She yelled frantically.

“You’ll know,” Rilla, before she too melted away.

Elise felt one more zap before everything merged into darkness.

Elise felt the cushiony blanket on her bed. She sat up suddenly, her hands clamping around the cold wooden posts, remembering where she had just been. Nobody would believe me. It must of been a dream .

She shook her head as if to clear the thought. She scooted off the bed and made her way down stairs to where her dad, Bruce, was watching the footy.

“Um,” Elise started. “Have I missed anything?”

Her dad looked at her as if she had lost her mind. Since when did she care about football?

“Dahh, um...St George is beating the Bulldogs for once.” His bewildered face cracking into a smile.

Elise didn’t notice. “When did I get back from the airport?”

“Half an hour ago with Blake. Why?”

“Just wondering. I was thinking how much time I had spent doing...doing ...sorting.”

Bruce raised one eyebrow. Sorting. And when exactly did Elise do sorting?

He put his hand up to feel Elise’s brow. “Are you feeling okay?”

She pushed his hand away and slumped onto the couch. “F-fine. Who scored the last try?”

I might be the only one to get the humour... :) Score a try indeed...*snort*
Dreams...funny things. Hurry up and write the next chapter. :)

When you knock on your friend's door, turn around...

Lol. Dreams are funny things indeed. I'm getting there. DON'T push me....lol
Thanks for commenting. And hey, you're the first guy to comment on these chapters (whoo!) .

I'm still wondering about the woman disappearing into air... really hope that you'll be writing revealing a little bit about that in the next chapter! Looking to see how this will all turn out. Because with Elise becoming transported into a mermaid world for just a short time makes me think that this isn't the end yet.

I think you could make your chapters a little longer though.

Oh don't you worry....I got that all sorted.

I'm kinda pressured at the moment, end of year, lots of school and end year stuff. I think the next one will be a good read for you! :)

Huh? I don't get what you mean. It's the end of the year, nearly Christmas holidays. It's summer here now. Don't know if that makes any difference. And then there's all the end of year parties and stuff like that.

And I just ran out of comments.

Ohhh. I thought you meant that it was the end of the school year! And then I said that why was it the end of the school year because school just began in September! And now you are telling me that it is summer over there. What! I thought that there was only a difference and time and then I find out there is difference in season too! This is a bit too much to comprehend. Wait - so Christmas flies by without cold days and snow? Hmm. That would be so strange but I think you are thinking it is strange to celebrate Christmas in the winter! So if it is the summer I suppose summer vacation is coming soon.....or do they have that in Australia? So what month is it now there? And is it the same in Dubai since I think it is closer to you than me … or do you not know?

Your last sentence made me laugh. You are a funny lady, Maddi.

Got another comment! Okay, you sounded so confused! First, it is the end of school year. We start our school year at the end of January after Christmas holidays (also summer holidays). Yes, we have a hot Christmas. So nice.

And yes, the months don't change, only the seasons. And I have no idea about Dubai.

Lol! I have never been called a 'lady' by someone younger than me! (Have you turned 13 or 14 this year?)

Oh, and in response on 'Would I' is that I really don't care. Another option is contacting me by my contact button. It's up to you, really. I don't mind sharing contacts. :)

I think it is a bit more clear now, maybe.....

Haha - I am not that younger than you! I am going to turn fourteen in January. :) But we are ladies anyway.

And I think I will just forward it to Sarah. You two email right? I mail letters to her and talk to her on the phone. The old-fashioned way, haha.

I don't mind sharing contacts either.

And Emilee, I will forward it to Arthur since I have his email. Plus it's faster.

Lol....

True! Only about....lets see....4 months?! And true again, but I hate being called a 'young lady'. Eww, it just gives me the yucky feeling like when I hear the word 'petticoat'. Yuk.

And yes we do, but she doesn't have internet at the moment; so she only goes on when they go to the library. Haha, don't worry, I have one friend who I do that with. :)

I have Arthur's contact as well, so whatever. :)

AND I can't wait till the end of this week cos we finish school!! Yippee! I love holidays....

p.s. I really like your tag. Did you make it up yourself?

I actually love being called a young lady. And I really like petticoats. But how did you all of sudden come up with that comment?:D

And I'm 14 in one month, not 4.

And yes, I do know that Sarah has no internet and that she uses it whenever she goes to her grandparents.

My tag...I found it while browsing Pinterest (or really, seeing what Pinterest was...it can be a total waste of time browsing there so I tend to stay away. :)

I don't. Um...I have no idea. I don't mind wearing them when I have to, but the word is just yuk. It has always been to me!!

I meant (sorry, not very clear) that there's about 4 months between us.

OR when she goes to the library. She told me that.

Oh right. (have no idea what that is....)

Immersing into Imagination chapter 5 is published! Yay!!
