behind the pages

They’re six and nine
They smell of daisies
And wear scalloped shorts

To them I’m this laughing, pretty girl
Blonde hair, blue eyes
‘Perfect’ hair, style so they said
And everything that matters

Oh, how glad I am that I display that
Because they’re so young
I can hardly blame them for
Not knowing what’s behind the scenes

What about the others
How do I look to them
To him, to her
Probably just this flirt
Who knows no better than to
Flaunt her red nails and
Shake off her timeless worries
With
Effortless laughter

Unbeknown to them
There’s so much more
I can’t reveal it in a single sentence

I really like this, great imagery.

Very good poem, Maddi! Well written and good imagery with a great title! There's some truth in this too, and the first stanza drew me in just like a story. Most poems I've read don't have that. This is your best poem, I'm sure! I read it two times. The flow made me hold my breath through the whole thing, and read it all over again.

This is great! I really, really enjoyed this poem! It didn't exactly flow for me in any particular way, but it definitely had a rhythme. I enjoyed your wording and the imagery, the way you twisted the words around in a line to express yourself.
My favorite lines are definitely the last three! I really, really, really loved it!
I'm super spiked about all this poetry from everyone! Spring is obviously the time for poetry!!! LOVE IT!!!
This was great, hoping to see more of your poetry soon ;)

@ Kassady: Haha, thanks. Although, it's not spring for me here, it's autumn. Except that you guys call it fall *shrug*

Again, thankyou everyone! More poetry soon!

I really love this. It had a classiness and an elegance to it, which I really liked. they smell of daisies/and wear scalloped shores This perfectly describes the kind of incredulous reaction one has to kids thinking they're absolutely fabulous. :)

I REALLY ADORE THAT WHOLE BIT SO MUCH!

Yay, thankyou! I definitely think that when I right poems about me, people I know or seen, or past experiences, I think people here tend to relate to them more like them.
Thanks, your comments mean a lot!
