A Dream is Just a Dream...or is it? Chapter Nine(a Narnian fan fiction)

(A/N) As I always say… “Every true “Narnian” will know and recognize C.S. Lewis’ words and phrases.”

It seemed as if time had stopped. We couldn’t help but just stare and stare at the Stone Table—it felt like something was keeping us from removing our eyes away from it.

Perhaps because it’s the Stone where Aslan will die on?

“I feel like I can stare at the Stone Tables forever,” said Susan breathlessly. “All those strange symbols and foreign writings on it gives me such a curious and trilling sensation!”

Lucy exclaimed, “Why, that’s exactly what I was thinking! It does look so old and dull…but there seems to be something different about it; something indescribable—almost like a mystery.”

Mr. Beaver remarked, “You know, it has been said in ancient times that some great and evil deed would be done right before the Tables.”

“Do you actually think so?” Peter asked doubtfully. “I mean, it’s so—so—I don’t know; I can’t describe it. It’s like those Stones are so different from other Stones—so different that I don’t think anyone would dare to do something right before the Stone Tables!”

“Well,” Mrs. Beaver said. “What you say is true but time will tell whether or not an evil deed will be done to them.”

We looked to the right…and then we saw Aslan. My heart seemed to stop.

He was the most unique lion I had ever seen. His face was like the sun—it shone brightly in some sort of heavenly way. His mane was red gold and he had this compassionate and gentle look about himself but yet at the time he had the look that made you fear him. Not in the scary way, but in the reverent way; a submissive kind of reverence…if you know what I mean.

That’s exactly what the Bible tells us how to fear God—in a reverent and submissive way; just like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane. What would it be like to have the fear of God to keep you from doing wrong!

Mr. and Mrs. Beaver whispered to Peter, “You first; humans before animals.”

Then Peter turned to us girls and said, “Ladies first.”

We shook our heads quickly. “No, you first.”

Susan added, “You’re the oldest!”

Peter just shrugged and boldly marched off to Aslan with him in the lead.

“Aslan, we have come,” he announced, kneeling.

We followed Peter’s example and kneeled.

When we finished with the introductions, Aslan beckoned me to follow him.

As we were just about to leave the group, I saw Susan glance at me with raised eyebrows.

I’ll be alright, my eyes reassured her.

Aslan and I walked over to a hill that overlooked the whole camp.

Aslan spoke right away,“Something is bothering you.”

I turned to him with surprise. “How did you know?”

He smiled but simply said, “I know all things, my daughter.”

After a few moments of silence, I blurted out, “Why am I here? I mean, how did I get here in the first place? Narnia isn’t real! No, Narnia is not real! I mean, I know I am not dreaming that I’m really here in Narnia, but how? It’s just not logical!” I laughed dryly. “Oh, here I am, sounding like Susan! But what is going on?”

“Those are questions you will have to determine for yourself, Anne.” Aslan said patiently. “But I am going answer one of those questions for you. I’m going to tell you why you are in Narnia,” he stopped.

“Why?”

“Because you are needed to help Susan grow stronger in her faith, in hopes that she will never abandon Narnia.”

“What?!”

But Aslan had vanished.

I liked it!! :)

“Because you are needed to help Susan grow stronger in her faith, in hopes that she will never abandon Narnia.”

Does that mean that Susan won't forget about Narnia? :)
