I am a hopeful romantic,
A helpless fantasist
Just as likely to seek Aladdin’s lamp,
Or a dragons cave,
As a pair of jeans at Wal-Mart
I’m always on the lookout
Hoping for a glimpse
Of the Faraway Land,
The Never Country,
Where all that I imagine
Might be shown for truth
I sometimes get a funny feeling,
Like maybe I’m this close,
But my feet always carry me
Half an inch too far,
Half an inch short
Of the doorway I can’t see
But can feel, tingling in the air
It’s there, I know it is,
Just waiting for me to find it
Perhaps I look too hard,
Not hard enough,
A second too soon,
A moment too late
I’ll find my way there someday
All the way to an enchanted world
A dreamland of reality
Once upon a distant future
I’ll get there,
Someday.

Yes, somewhere there is "the place" of dreams
"Someday" indeed. So many books are about people finding another land. Why does it have to be in books?

Beautiful!
I loved this, LoriAnn!
So glad I'm not the only one who knows that there's something there, something so close but so out of reach, something that could be reached if you could only wrap yourself around something invisible and intangible!
I could go on, but I'll leave off with saying "Well done, beautiful poem, very well written!"

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!

Who hasn't ever poked into the back of their closet, hoping to find Narnia, or tried on every cheap paste ring at garage sales hoping for magic? I think it's the human nature to long for something more, which will ultimately be fulfilled when God makes all things new. Honestly, I'm really hoping for a dragon or two in heaven...lol

This is a wonderful poem! It perfectly describes me. :) I was personally the one poking messages into drywall cracks, hoping a Borrower would find them, or sending Morse Code messages out the window at night, hoping a fairy or Peter Pan would see them. :D A dragon in heaven? I never thought of it, but that'd be sweet. ;)
That's how I feel! I can't
That's how I feel! I can't put it into words as well, but that is exactly how I feel whenever I'm thinking of another imaginary (or not) world.
