There's a really pretty song, an old American Folk ballad, called "Silver Dagger", where a girl turns away a potential suiter because her mother has warned her about how awful men are. It's a pretty song, as I said, but it's got some pretty depressing words. So if you know the tune, (or if you want to look it up on YouTube or something) here are my improved lyrics--a personal ballad about waiting for the one God has planned for you.
Don’t sing love songs I’m not yet ready My heart is still A hidden thing On my left hand A silver promise I’m waiting for A diamond ring The world is large And I am watching I’m waiting for My prince to come He may be flawed Or late in coming Still I will wait For my someone Don’t sing love songs I’m still a dreamer I don’t yet need To look for love My time will come Some far-off someday I’ll find the one I’m dreaming of Don’t sing love songs I’m still a secret No one but God Can know my heart My dreams for life Are in his keeping He is the one Who writes my part Don’t sing love songs I’m not yet ready My heart is still A hidden thing On my left hand A silver promise I’m waiting for A diamond ring

"I'm waiting for/A diamond
"I'm waiting for/A diamond ring"...my favorite lines! It expresses my thoughts exactly when I was single.

That was AMAZINGLY beautiful! I love that. I've never heard that song but i really love the line Don't Sing Love Songs, because i feel love songs get so tiresome, but there are some truly beautiful ones worth singing and listening to.
I love this.
Thanks for helping my heart be still!
BUT I will say I think we should sing love songs - but to our fathers and brothers and Savior!
I'm not saying don't sing
I'm not saying don't sing them at all--my favorite parts of movies are the love scenes ("Can you feel the love tonight" "Whole New World", "Kiss the Girl"...yes, I'm a Disney freak. And you can't be a disney freak without loving the romance bits...). I'm just saying that serious contemplation of love and what you think is love should wait until you're ready to be serious about it. :) It's just what came when I wrote.
Love it!
My favorite lines are:
My heart is still
A hidden thing
On my left hand
A silver promise
I’m waiting for
A diamond ring
You said it so perfectly. Great job, and my sentiments exactly!

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
