When I Am Weary

Life sings a blurry tune,
distinct voices blend with laughter and tears;
pain and pleasure, disappointed hopes, elated dreams…
in the end, it makes me want to cry as Solomon did:
“Meaningless! … all is vanity!”
What do we live for but our fleeting pleasures
that fade, leaving only memories
tainted by some bitterness or regret?
Friend, put your hope not in the successes of this blighted world –
you will always be disappointed.
What then?
As a child of the King, let this be my song:
My only boast is Christ crucified.

This was not an attempt at writing good poetry, it just came one day. I've attempted to refine it a bit, but left it more broken in the end. If you have any suggestions, feedback, thoughts, I'd love to hear from you.

Hi Libby! Can't really think of anyway it needs improvement; this poem is lovely (as all of your poetry is)! <3

C.S. Lewis ~ "He died not for men, but for each man. If each man had been the only man made, He would have done no less."
