Old Photos

Memories come alive
In every photograph;
They take me back again
To sorrow or to laugh.

Reliving every moment
Captured in one scene,
Each picture bringing more
Of what the past has been.

Ah, those good old days!
When carefree lives we led.
A laugh, a skip, and trip, a hop,
At once my years are shed!

Come back again! Come back again!
Nostalgia seems to say;
The memories are fading fast
They’re fleeing far away.

Years are passing by
And as each flitting hour
Flies away, away from me
My dying memories cower.

No longer can I live
My photographs again
My hopeful, willing heart
Strives to recall in vain.

The faintest whisper stays
A mocking of the past
It teases me with echoes
Of my memories so vast.

Old photographs now sit
Upon the piano top
Inviting me to live again
Those moments that are lost.

This was lovely. I liked the progression of it.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
