Noel~Heaven's Kiss

The glory of the Lord wrapped Sinai’s peak. Moses and Joshua ascended into the cloud. For forty days and forty nights, God showed Moses the pattern of worship for His chosen people. It is to be made just as you were shown on the mountain. This was Heaven’s Word, given as a guide to his people. But at the foot of the mountain, the Israelites sculpted a golden calf and bowed down to it. And when God saw the nation’s sin, his anger burned against them. If Moses had not pleaded for Israel, it would have been destroyed. Even so, Moses threw the tablets of the law from his hands and broke them at the foot of Sinai. Heaven’s Word was broken. In a quiet stable in a small village, the glory of God descended from heaven wrapped in the flesh of a tiny infant. The melody of the angels spoke to shepherds while the wondrous star shone as a sign to distant seekers of wisdom. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This was Heaven’s Hand, offered to all mankind. But Herod sought to destroy the child, so Mary and Joseph fled to Egypt. And the warmth of a tiny babe was overshadowed by the cold emptiness of death brought to the infant boys of Bethlehem. Heaven’s Hand was released. Thirty-three years later, a brutalized body, barely human, hung from a cross outside Jerusalem. Rabbis, thieves, solders, and travelers mocked the man whose only crime was being ‘King of the Jews.’ And from the sixth hour until the ninth hour, darkness covered the land. Look! Do you see it in the shadows, suspended between earth and heaven? This is Heaven’s Kiss. Ugly and hideous. Excruciating pain. Separation from the Father’s love. But this is the cost of our redemption. But this is the price of his love.   My youth group attended the Planet Wisdom conference early in December. The theme was ‘A Walk With Christ to the Cross.’ One of the worship songs we sang was ‘When Heaven Came Down,’ by Dutton. You were nailed to the tree of life And all creation was justified When heaven came down and kissed the earth   And this is the good news Our God became one of us And this is the good news The God of the universe became a man To stand in the gap for us When heaven came down and kissed the earth When heaven came down and kissed the earth

I have hated the words and I have loved them, and I hope I have made them right. --The Book Thief

Amen, Anna. I absolutely LOVE that song. It's my favorite out of all Christian music.

This was a really thought provoking piece. Really good job.
