I once knew
A thousand songs to speak for me I once knew A thousand shades of rose But the songs were swallowed By the silent night And the roses withered Before the dawning light Praise was in my hands But they cut it away And my lips cannot Find blessings to pray Do you still hear? Are you still listening? I once knew A thousand songs to speak for me I once knew A thousand shades of rose The harp string broke Ending forever his song Though blood flowed His faith remained strong Who can heal My broken heart I thought I knew you But we’re so far apart Do you still hear? Are you still listening? I once knew A thousand songs to speak for me I once knew A thousand shades of rose The world is shattered Grief comes crashing down If sorrow is an ocean I fear I shall drown Will you hold me close Safe in your arms? When the monster comes Will I be harmed? Do you still hear? Are you still listening? This poem will be inserted in my NaNoWriMo story "Three Dark Roses."
