Cecilia's Letter

Submitted by Melissa on Sun, 07/29/2012 - 20:22

Dearest Aunt Eliza and Adrimond,
I know you will be happy and very surprised to hear from me, when I have been surely thought lost all these long long years. I find it is very difficult to describe in such a short space what has befallen me. But the postal service declares that letters of more than one sheet must be paid for with a whole dollar, and I (and Mother and Father) have no money. So I write small, as you see.

Out of Time: Seven

Dad caught, twirled, and set Mrs. Taylor on her feet at the other side of the room. Brodie had to steady her. She looked small between them, although she must have been close to my height. Do I, too?
“But this is wonderful!” Lydia Taylor said between breaths. “And overdue.” In all the times she scolded Brodie in front of me, I never saw her do so with such a wide, lovely smile. I expected her to burst into song.
“Whatever kept you was too cruel.”
“Time. Just time.” Dad smiled the way other people blink back tears.

Salmon-la-Sac

Submitted by Johanna on Wed, 06/27/2012 - 16:09

The quiet roar of the Cle-Elum River and the trilling of birds welcomes me every summer when we return to my grandparents’ mountain cabin in Salmon-la-Sac, Washington. A mixed feeling of excitement and amazement fills me with delight as I inhale deeply, reveling in the mingled scent of dust and wood, warmed by the sun. “I’m really here again!” I whisper to myself, as I wander up the trail to the cabin. Even though my family and I often go to Salmon-la-Sac a few times every year, each visit still excites me. There, we can relax, explore, build, laugh, and create cherished memories.

Blue Eyes-3

Blaine didn’t come back till a while later, even though my conversation with my parents was brief. We all started crying at the same time and couldn’t say much, so my dad just assured me that they would be there soon and that they loved me.
It was all okay though, because he came bearing gifts of the hot caramel macchiato kind. He smiled at me, appearing amused, probably because the look on my face was priceless.
“I made them give you extra whip. I asked the doctor if it was okay for you to have some, and he said yeah.”

An Adventure at the Mall

Submitted by Lucy Anne on Sat, 03/31/2012 - 13:47

Just one of my very first writings...

Date of Event: February 21st 2011

A few hours at the mall once in a while is okay, but can you imagine eight hours? Imagine, spending eight hours in a crowded mall when you could be home doing anything you like. Well, yesterday, I had to go to the mall to go buy mattresses, bed sheets, and some comforters from Macy’s. Just that day, I had wanted to stay home and watch, “Anne of Green Gables.”
