Tears

Faraway Yesterdays

Walking across the dust covered floor, uncovering old laughter in my mind, of the times we'd tried to keep things quiet. Do you remember the failure of our fluffy pillow covers, when we hoped not to make a sound? Trying not to wake our sleeping little brother in the next room? Those times, of happy hearts, joy, and ease? Light minds and new starts. We were truly free. Almost running everywhere we dared, without fear or any cares.

The Tear

A golden droplet,
Or perhaps silver,
Swelling up,
And falling out.

It curves over,
Every line,
Through the midst of pain,
Or the wonder.

Glinting in the light,
Or glowing in darkness,
Still rolling over,
A shadowed face.

I see you cry,
And mourning still,
And from your eye,
Comes the tear.

Worth While

Can’t take away a tear
But can prepare a wound
So bitter can it be
To see the sea rise
Like a mourning wave
Inside a fearful eye
Can’t take one more breath
Captive in an angry look
To see another step
So take a look around you
To see if you can find
The resting you need
For those weary little feet
Don’t go beyond your home
For no one will see you cry
Don’t gaze around this room
To see someone appear
For He is right there
Like a rain in the desert
