rewind

drawn from the ocean
in a backwards flight
as if God grabbed a remote
and swiftly pressed rewind

i’m drawn in the air
and i’m drawn into the sky
nesting in a white-grey cloud
pillowed and divine

along with a thousand other drops
who furl around; condense
bound together by nature’s pull
and varied circumstance

those drops nested by the sand
they’ll stay pressed in the depths
of cake-like mud and rainbow fish
opposing omnipresence

Shadow Man -(1)-

-(1)-

It would be so. If the Shadow Man came at night, then day would be his shelter. If the dark harbored evil things then light would be his fortress. A king in his empty, empty castle. But there was no light here, not a scrap to be found or a sound to be hear. There was no color. It was as was.

Too Many Voices

I. Too Many Voices

I’m dizzy, my head is spinning
My feet swerve across the floor
Which way should I turn?
I can’t make the choice
Too many voices are calling my name
This ringing in my ears is creeping into my mind

II. Slowly Breaking Heart

What I wouldn’t give to just spit it out
Get it over with
Have you tell me no, it can’t be
At least that way, my heart might not break quite as slowly

III. My Valentine?

Joy in Every Circumstance

Submitted by Lucy Anne on Mon, 01/28/2013 - 19:05

"...my life is not pleasing to God, nor honoring Him, if I do not claim His abundant provision for joy in every circumstance." - Sara Yoder, The Way She Chose by Mary Miller

At church yesterday, my friend Sarah lent me this book and when I arrived home, I began reading it. Before the author builds up to this quote, Sara had encountered many difficulties in life that occurred because she was stubborn, refusing to pay heed to her parents and church's warnings in the way she lived her life.

Greyscale World

I wonder
what life would be like,
if things were black and white.
The path to choose would always be clear -
whether to go or whether to stay
turn left, turn right
don't go there; it has no light.
The right thing to say would always be near,
if this life was black and white.
Grey issues no more
would creep through the door;
Confusion no longer trouble my sleep.
My days would be peaceful,
free of remorse
my nights content and untroubled.
Yet perhaps we are meant
to live and to learn

13 Discoveries I've Made Throughout 2012

Submitted by Lucy Anne on Sat, 01/19/2013 - 04:29

In a way, inspired by Maddi's 13 on 14...

1. I am not quite the same person I was last year, last month, or last week. I keep growing and learning.

2.I should really force myself to write faster. Because after a while, I lose enthusiasm, and it shows. Plus, when I take too long, usually I’ve grown so much in the ways I think and write that all I want to do is go back and edit. Which is sometimes good, and sometimes bad.

Of the Small

Submitted by little woman on Fri, 01/11/2013 - 00:44

This is the land of Freedom and Justice
or is it?
where we swear under God.

Under God we stand
a nation once rose tall
yet if our sins we keep
our nation soon will fall.

Prophets of today
stand up and tell us plain
'a nation who slaughters her children
never more will gain.'

Still we press on forward
"rights" for each and all
yet in the hurry to let each do as he will
we forget the rights of the small.

I am a Clock

Submitted by Emilee on Sun, 01/06/2013 - 21:26

Tick. Tock.
I am a clock
I am a full of cogs
Cogs that push
Cogs that pull
Relying on each other
For movement
For life

They spin my hands across my face
In a perfect rhythm
In the perfect way
Tick
Tock
Tick
Never a change
Never a new tune
They spin my hands across my face

Minutes--One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six

one

Ⅰ We are standing face-to-face Much too close yet far away They’re a tricky thing These games We both find fun to play Until of course it fights Comes back with a bite Forcing us to hide Away Until it’s time to fight

Ⅱ He said--to me-- If you must know “I’ll be more than glad to go.” Said the thing that hurt the most Because he knew me so well

Ⅲ I fell into your arms Tripped over shoelaces And you got me I was off my guard (Literally) And we both pushed away Mumbled apologies
