truth

the crack in my world

Submitted by E on Wed, 02/11/2015 - 03:32

it hit me now
like a mac truck
my clothes still smell like you
i'm burying my nose in my sweater
so that maybe i can memorize
your crisp cologne
"i'm not leaving yet," your muffled voice in my shoulder
"i know, i'm just sad," all i could muster
your arms tight around my ribcage
i was grateful that you knew
i needed to hold on for a while
then rush out the door as fast as i can
throw myself into the front seat before
i lose it
the torrential downpour
the not ready to let go

It Makes Sense/Too Complicated/Concert

I. It Makes Sense
It sounds corny but you just
Get me
Without having to try too hard
I don’t have to pretend,
I don’t have to dumb myself down
I love the fact that you use
Words like ‘altruistic’ in regular conversation,
Send me six-paragraph text messages,
And you like to watch movie trailers
Even if you don’t want to watch the movie
Do you know how often I find another person
Who shares a weird hobby with me like that?

Land of the Free

*a/n* Let me preface this by saying that I am a proud citizen of the United States of America. However, this has been bothering me for a while. I know that some people on here will disagree with certain aspects of this essay, and that's fine! I mean no disrespect. I'm simply trying to put a few things that I have gathered from some fairly recent experiences into perspective. Just to caution you, this has a lot of older themes such as racism and general discrimination.

Destiny of Love

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Tue, 01/27/2015 - 20:05

Love is patient, love is kind,
It is not a word, not a mime.
Love is not a feeling, big, or small,
It's something more, if I recall.
There is no greater love than this:
What?! To die? Not give a kiss?
T'was with a kiss Christ was betrayed,
Soon before He His true love displayed.
It was on a cross that my Lord died,
T'was His love for me that pierced His side.
God sent down His only Son,
And He the victory has won.
The dove was the sign sent from above;
The sacrifice was His destiny of love.

Words

Submitted by Damaris Ann on Sat, 01/17/2015 - 21:10

Words, words! What will they be?
Something sweet or something sour,
Take a minute, take an hour.
Something happy, something sad,
Something good, or something bad.
Be a sport, don't be a cad!
Make a difference in this world,
Don't waist breath on selfish words.
Always encourage: never scold!
Sweet tones will go a long way,
Make words far easier to say,
Then a kind spirit you will display.

Time Forgets

Our salvation is free: not cheep;
The blood and the water run deep.
Why do I hang my head and cry?
Because for sin did Jesus die.
In Christ we are a sacrifice;
It is His blood that sanctifies.
He has purged away our sin;
In our hearts He entered in.
It was not me that was smote,
Time forgets; please God I won't.

Westward Ho! Part Four

David Spencer looked down into Claudia's face.
"Yow seem extra happy today, Miss Claudia. May I take the liberty to ask why?"
"Yes, you may!" Claudia laughingly replied. "My dear friend from back at my old home is coming on September thirty-first to spend a whole month with me, and I can't wait! I have missed her so much since we moved, and am so pleased that she will be able to make it for a visit."
"I am very happy for you, Miss Claudia! What is your friend like?"
