Part Six: Colds, Conversations, and Capital Fun of a …Hazardous… Sort
There was a time, in a place, in a land far away where there were Majick creatures. For those of you who do not know of the Majick, it will be clarified later. For now, let us start our story.
The silent, still darkness
Tick, tick, tick
of the kitchen clock
Shadows and quiet
Moonbeams through the window
drenching the smooth floor
in silver
Soft carpet,
hushed wind,
dark room
illuminated by colored lights
yellow and blue and red and green
strung around, weaving along the branches
of a tall evergreen
Twinkling silver and gold
hung on every bough
Glowing, magical
Soundless, beautiful
mysterious, wonder
Chapter the Twenty-first
When the grass grows long and thick in the back,
We run through the yard; it before us expands
It becomes a forest, a tangled wilderness
filled with the things that inhabit our dreams
Owls in top hats, falcons and lightning,
the little folk in their tiny wood homes
Wigwams and tree forts, catstles and kings
towers and caves filled with mysteries untold
wizards and horses, the wind that can speak
and tell me all the places it's been,
and all the things it has seen
Brave heroes, cunning villians,
It moves in the soul,
soft but strong,
It has been here
inside all along
The kiss of each note
the touch, light and airy
the touch, just like
the wing of a fairy
So perfect, so good
not seen, yet felt,
Soon I'm caught--
can't be helped
I'm caught by the wonder,
held by the sound,
The magic of music
is here, all around.
I hold not sword nor saber,
nor knife or arrow or bow,
nor all the money in the world,
not bronze or silver or gold
But there upon my palm
rests more power than all of those,
its weightless form is worth
much more than a treasure trove
It will soar above the mountain,
and go wheeling to the sky,
it will fly across the ocean
and travel far and wide
The feathery touch,
the breifest glimpse,
the splash of color,
a living wish
