Maybe Eternity

Submitted by E on Mon, 09/02/2013 - 00:00

1. Eternity
If I’m to live forever
I should pray that you will, too
Because, dear God, I wouldn’t want to live
Without, my darling, you

2. It Was a Bad Day
Maybe all these big girl dreams aren’t for me after all
Maybe I wasn’t born to go to college and get married
Maybe I wasn’t made for the usual course
Maybe I was born with wild eyes
Maybe I was born for the road.

Inward Chaos

Submitted by E on Mon, 08/26/2013 - 21:24

1. Inward Chaos
You make me a quiet kind of crazy
Send me into internal turmoil
I don’t think you know
But if you do, you’re good at hiding it

2. Head Over Heels
I’m enraptured by every part of you
They say eyes are a reflection of a person’s soul
If that’s the case, yours is beautiful
I’ve never met someone like you
I don’t think I will again.

On the Horizon

Submitted by E on Sun, 08/18/2013 - 23:17

1. Summer Wine
My dreams still taste like summer and wine
Vivid flashes of sunsets and freedom
I looked out into the horizon and remembered
The words you whispered in my ear too many years ago
And I smiled.

2. On the Horizon
Vivid wild taste of freedom
Open my eyes to a never ending horizon
If this is what the future looks like
I can’t get there fast enough

3. Bliss
You make me forget
Who I am
And who I want to be
I’m someone else entirely
I think I might like it

Greek and Roman-Chapter VI: The Sword

Submitted by j. Glen pollard on Wed, 08/14/2013 - 04:48
TITUS looked at his Uncle Flavius. He was excited and scared; excited from seeing a real trial and scared because his Uncle Flavius would act differently when he that Judge Senator Flavius. Several servants carried Uncle Flavius in a sedan. A curtain covered him on both sides so no one could see him. The sedan moved towards the Rostra, a platform for speakers to address the crowd. It was also used for trials. When Flavius stepped out of the sedan, the mob started to quiet down after hearing that a ‘Christian’ was about to go on trial.

It's a Bittersweet Thing

1. When He’s Happy
The kind of smile you want to keep around
Crinkling eyes invite you in
Envelope you in understanding
Silent laughter, it makes the room glow

2. Too Much
You look so tired
Why can’t you just sleep
Tell them to figure it out
You don’t have to hold their hand
Go, darling, take a rest
It’s going to be okay.

Another Day is Done

Submitted by E on Wed, 07/17/2013 - 16:07

1. Exhausted
I used to put up with a lot
I used to brave the mood swings and the angry drunken tirades
Put a happy face on when I was shaking with fury
Stay united with my family while we all just watched
But now I’m making an executive decision
I don’t have to spend my time with people who make me crazy
So I’ll sit back in my cave and write about it.

How it Ends

Submitted by E on Thu, 06/27/2013 - 04:59

1. On the Edge
I find myself running more and more
Constantly in fear that I won’t run fast enough
I’m having those dreams where I run to a cliff
And I can’t stop before I step off the edge.

2. Variables
Dare you to keep me in your head
Even if you’re too afraid to try
Variables are thrown in left and right
In our lives we may just have to let it go
Nearly close enough, but just a finger’s breadth out of reach

Greek and Roman-Chapter IV: The Colosseum

SUNSHINE filled Titus’s room. He awoke and he thought for a moment that he was back in Greece. But he wasn’t. He was still in Rome and lying on a very soft and comfortable bed. He looked across the room and saw that a toga was hanging on a wall. Titus leaped out of his bed. He strode over to it and felt the fabric touch his fingertips. He stared in awe at the ancient yet beautiful design of the toga. And it actually belonged to Father. And then, the images of last night came back to him.
