The PencilBot 4000

Submitted by Christin on Wed, 10/18/2017 - 03:10

My pencil flew across the paper. It bounced and danced as it depicted details of a fantasy world.
My wrist ached, but though it tried, it couldn't convince me to stop writing. I was in the zone.
"Just a few lines more…" I told myself, but then a few lines later I whispered,
"Just a few lines more…" and I knew I wasn't going anywhere.

She Held Out Her Heart

Submitted by Libby on Sun, 10/15/2017 - 07:01

She held out her heart
Without hesitation
And lifted it up,
A grand presentation.

I took it from her
I took it so gently
That sweet little gift
To guard it intently.

So pure and so fresh,
I watched it maturing;
The older she grew
Her sweet heart ensuring.

And then came the day
Its sweetness was tainted;
The day that I felt
We were not acquainted.

So mild the change,
I sensed it directly;
Her manner was cold,
I thought so abjectly.

When We're Together

When we’re together smiles win the day
The sun’s shining bright, clouds all blown away.

When we’re together things really get Fryed,
White Converse and brown ones sit right side by side.

When we’re together we laugh at our jokes
That really aren’t good, still we laugh til we croak.

When we’re together, it’s hard to describe.
You always create such a friendly vibe.

When we’re together, I love you so much.
I don’t think there’s anyone with your special touch.

Girl of My Dreams

Submitted by Libby on Thu, 10/12/2017 - 04:19

I once had a dream,
And in it was you—
Child of my heart,
Girl of my dreams.
Sweet little sister,
Bright as the dawn,
Right from the start
You’re real, it seems.

Brown hair, brown eyes,
A miniature me,
Is it really you—
Right out of my dream?
So quiet with others,
So open with me,
I really love you,
We make a good team.

Soldier of God

Captain Aurelius Cassian held his breath. He prayed to Juno for a son for months after he was told of the pregnancy, and he sent incense to Jupiter for a princely fellow, Venus and Cupid for a boy of comely appearance, and Mars for a suitable warrior of Rome. He begged the gods for an heir.
Now, he waited for the result of his prayers.

More Than A Million Words

When I first came to my office in London, I noticed him. He sat in the market place day after day, same place as always, same position, on his knees in an attitude of humility. A small wooden bowl was before him, and occasionally, a passerby would drop in a coin or two with a small clink. I never had time for him; he was just another beggar on the streets of London. And one couldn’t give money to all beggars.

Byron paused on his walk. He was sure there was a girl crying in that little alcove behind the bushes, but he wasn't sure if he should intrude. He saw the retreating back of one of the bigger football players and decided to forge ahead through the shield of green.

"Hey," his tone was soothing and served to calm the tempestuous storm which raged behind the girl's dewy eyes, though she started like a wild deer when she heard his footsteps.

"Oh." She tried to dash the water from her cheeks.

Half Brother III: Assassin?

It had been hours. A doctor had been summoned, Grandfather was rushed into one of the rooms of the estate, and the party was disbanded. Ettore had waited long enough outside the room in which the doctor was with Grandfather. He sat at the bedside and he observed how sick the man who raised him was. The doctor said his heart had stopped, but somehow, Ettore’s thoughtless reasoning kept him alive a little longer.
The room was silent and dark.
