I'm so bogged down in confusion on the plot for A Steampunk Tale that I'm taking a break from writing it to work on plotting and backstory and drawing maps, and figuring out how everything in the story world works. I should have known this would happen. I guess I'm not a seat-of-the-pants-er. :)

Millie sped up the staircase with the full intention of returning to the ballroom. She didn't know why she was running, in fact, she was starting to wish that she hadn't. The idea that had once seemed the proper course of action suddenly appeared silly and ridiculous.

Just as she reached the top, however, a voice from behind stopped her dead in her tracks.

'Miss Taverner!'

Doctor Rawlings. She turned to face him- he was standing at the bottom of the stairs, looking earnestly up at her.

Eyes

I adore poetry, But I don't even pretend to be good at writing it! But anyway here's a lil' diddy! I'd appreciate any feedback!

Eyes.

When you look in my eyes,

Can you tell that I cry?

Do you see all of lifes' pain,

Fall off me like it's rain.

Do you wonder if I smile,

as without you a I walk another mile.

Do your eyes betray you?

The way I know that mine do...

First, I wanted to thank James for promoting me to the most esteemed honor of becoming a Monthly. I am deeply honored, I hope to become worthy of that title. In the meantime, I present the next set of chapters for the Taverner Chronicles.

Millie pulled the curtains aside. There she was, in her own time, for her brother and sister were standing over the trunk full of clothing. Millie shivered as the warmth left her cheeks and hands, realizing that it was again cold. Very cold. Andrew looked at her with a puzzled expression.

The Tale of Modeñia: Chapter One

Submitted by Arthur on Wed, 02/29/2012 - 07:37

There was once a rich and powerful kingdom called Modeñia. The King of Modeñia’s name was Karshë; he was peace loving, and a good ruler. In fact, his passion for peace was so strong, it blinded him to the looming danger. For, when war threatened, he went to the enemy himself to ask for peace, not understanding that the enemy did not want peace, and failing to first prepare a defense...

This is the sad story of the Kingdom of Modeñia, and of the brave Prince Zobed. This is my story, the faithful friend and servant of Prince Zobed.
