Friend's War 9

There was now a coming and going of many villagers. I heard them pattering and being as silent as they may. I whispered Blater and Bliter to my side. I crept out, watching the great Clock with an intense gaze. The dogs went before me, walking with their heads low. I then stopped and knelt. Blater and Bliter then turned towards me. I spoke to them:
To war! To war!
With brandished sword
And pointed spear
And arrows bent
And banners raised
We lift our voices high!
For life and land
Queen and kin
We shout out to the sky!
To war! To war!
We might not return
But fear do we spurn
We voice our battle cry!
To war!
So the Fairy Folk sang as they marched to battle.

CHAPTER TWO
"Be wary of the walltop guards," I whispered as we jogged across the grass. "Let's not head to the forest, though."
He turned to me, slowing his pace, "Why not?"
"The stretch of ground is too vast, we risk being seen and shot. Let us head to the marshes," I motioned to the yellowing ground that stretched away to the left of the woods, cloaked in blue mists. "We will reach it in under three minutes instead of the ten or so to the treeline, and our position will be veiling by the fog."
