Dedicated to Ray Peters, who went Home January 18, 2011

You've met the journey's end, my friend
You've left me here alone
You don't know what you've meant to me
You don't know how much of Him you've shown

You don't know what you've taught me
Of a life of love and faith
You don't know how much I saw
In your life lived by His grace

And though you're gone
I know you'll live on
You've left behind a legacy
For me to follow, for me to see
That living must be for Him alone
Or in the end, it will be shown
That a life without Him is void of worth
An empty shell

You've no idea the seed you've sown
In my heart and many others too
You've lived a life led by His hope
By grace I'll see you soon

'Cause though you're gone
You'll always live on
You've left behind a legacy
That by His grace, you helped me see
That life must be for Him alone
Or in the end, it will be shown
That life without Him ends in death
It's an empty shell

There are many watching, many that see
The One who died upon that tree
If I live the life, how many more can know
If I leave a legacy
If by faith I walk and the Light I show?

And though you're gone
Your life will live on
You've left behind a legacy
For all the world to hear and see
That life must be for Him alone
And at the end, you've clearly shown
The life in Him lived full and free
The shell He filled
