aphrodite

Aphrodite walked in, glowing like a burnt summer evening, the stars drowning in her midnight eyes.   The silk dress clung to her body as she moved, slowly, and sweat glistened on her neck like diamonds.  She stood apart from the crowd, but everyone knew she was too good to be an outcast.  Too beautiful.  Everyone also knew she was too good to be with the in-crowd, way too intimidating.  She walked across the room, carefully maneuvering between cliques and couples.  I liked watching her walk because she had the carriage of a princess, tall and regal, her feet barely skimming across the floor.  She was barefoot.  A small golden anklet shivered around her ankle.   I leaned across the table to my buddy and directed his attention to Aphrodite.
“I thought fairy princesses were supposed to have wings,” I said softly.
