Star-Trail Night

Submitted by Raine on Sun, 06/10/2012 - 15:36

I gazed towards the gentle glow
that was slowly disappearing
stars appeared apprehensively
from their twilit hiding spots.

The ghostly fog in front of me
was my warm breath sliding
into the darkness as I
shifted from foot to foot.

This was a star-trail night.
The moon no longer visible,
the clouds long since gone,
a stunning visage left behind.

Light against dark. Dark
against the light.
Something stirred inside me
my arms outstretched
to embrace the sky.

This is beautiful. I especially love the third verse.

This poem was so lovely and magical! I loved all of it! :)

"It is not the length of life, but the depth of life." Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am a star-gazer and this describe the irreplaceable feeling I get when I walk up my back door and the stars are brightly shining. I feel like I could dance forever when I'm out there. Keep writing!

"Child, to say the very thing you really mean, the whole of it, nothing more less or other than what you really mean; That's the whole art and joy of words." C.S. Lewis
