While we sleep in peace
On a quiet winter night
Men die in the deep
As they bravely fight.
When we wake up in the morning
And when we grumble and whine
The soldiers in Iraq are fighting
against the terrorist crime.
We care not about what's going on
We just sit and complain and yawn.
While the soldiers are giving up their lives.
Only for one.
If we have not a family member in battle
We do not appreciate
The work that they do for us.
As they fight against war and hate.
Some of us care about the troops
But go overboard and blame
But they don't understand that their sons and daughters are willing to be slain.
Around Christmas time, with all the happiness And cheer,
Some of us think about the fact that THEY
Won't be here.
I am not saying you're careless
And that you care nothing about our troops
But as you go about your day
Think of THEM.
When you think about their suffering
And how much you care
Then do what I am asking
Just saying a simple prayer.
These young men and women
Our heroes fighting all day and night
Are fighting for
Red, Blue and White.

Yay my brother is coming
Yay my brother is coming home this christmas!
Thank you!
I have a friend in Iraq now; thanks for the reminder to not only pray for him but for the rest of the troops

I loved it! We have a friend fighting in Iraq (or Afghanistan). I really hope he ends up okay!

I'm very pleased by your writing! I also like the way you mixed up the whole red, white, and blue thing to rhyme! Very good!
