Amy lifted her backpack a little higher on her shoulder. It had become weighed down with all of the little trinkets she bought at the Star Wars Convention. Beside her Matt was running all around swinging his imitation light saber. She couldn't help laughing, he just looked so silly. They were walking down a road that followed the edge of the Beyond forest. They had gone about 1.5 miles and Amy was getting a little winded so she stopped to rest on a rock. A small black lump laid on the ground next to her and she bent to look at it. A scream followed moments later. Matt rushed over, "What's wrong?"
"L-look at this." She pointed at the creature. Blood covered its small chest and is wasn't breathing anymore.
"What is it?", she asked.
Matt frowned, he had a real soft spot for animals, "I-I don't know....but...it's dead..."
Matt picked up the small creature and gasped.
"I am not sure what it is...but...it has wings."

Amy shook her head, it certainly wasn't a bird. So, what could it be?
Matt stood, cradling the creature in his arms as though it was still living, and headed toward the woods.
"Hey! Where are you going?" Amy asked, rising to her feet and running after him.
"I think there is a Animal Hospital next to the Kroger. If we get there before dark we should be able to find out what kind of animal this is."

They both left the road and entered the dark, forbidding woods. The only thing they didn't know was, they wouldn't be coming back out.
