Dreams and Streams

Sweet, sweet streams flowing by
A birdie singing my lullaby
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep

Bless this house,
Oh Lord, I pray
Keep it safe by night
By day
Keep me in your arms until
Gentle flowing by, I will

And into the stream, the flowing stream
I will float upon the water in dream
Into the arms of love and grace
Into the Stream of the Dreaming place.

Never let go
Never give up, hold my hand
Until we reach the sand
And, hold me tight,
Hold me tight until we reach

And into the stream, the flowing stream
I will float upon the water in dream
Into the arms of love and grace
Into the Stream of the Dreaming place.

Dream on clear, wide, strong, calm, loving dreams
Dream onto clear, wide, strong, calm, loving streams
Upon the clear crystal water
Wading through the blue white waves
Never weaken or falter
But glide, glide, glide upon the clear
Clear, clear…

Into the stream, the flowing stream
I will float upon the water in dream
Into the arms of love and grace
Into the Stream of the Dreaming place.

Edith,

You have captured a beautiful rhythm in your poetry! My favorite part, I think, was where you wrote: "Wading through the blue white waves / Never weaken or falter / But glide, glide glide upon the clear, clear clear..." You use aliteration and repetition well in lulling your readers into a dream and lifting them away to "the flowing stream." I love it! Keep writing.
