The sun sets, golden light spreads
Across the horizon
Roses end and sway in a light wind
Their scent sifting through the
Warm summer air
The perfect night for a fairy dance
Tiny figures dart across the twilit sky
Light glitters off their translucent wings
As they gather near the tall oak tree
The Dancing Oak, they call it
A gathering place for magical dances
Music drifts through the air
Small shapes float around the clearing
The fairies move gracefully
Twirling and dipping 'round the oak
Tiny laughter echoes in the air
Like little bells pealing
One by one the stars come out
Twinkling in the sky
Moonlight shines on
Delicate faces of little folk
As they merrily dance
Midst the silver-lit trees
The music changes...low and fast
To high and slow, a fairy waltz
As the morning sun's first rays
Touch the horizon
The fairies finish the final dance
Gracefully twirling to a halt
bowing to elegant partners
And with a last chime of happy laughter
Flit away into the leaves
boughs and branches
Of the waking woods
A tiny flower shoe
With shining spider-web laces
Lays next to the Dancing Oak
The last remnant of the fairy dance...

I love it, I feel like I'm
I love it, I feel like I'm peeking out behind a tree and watching the fairies laugh their tinkling laughs, and the moonlight shining down on their silver-blue hair. Maybe they don't really have hair that color, but I love to think they do.

What a lovely idea. You
What a lovely idea. You know, I don't think that I usually think of fairies as having wings, isn't that wierd? If I were to describe them I would say that they had beautiful shining wings, but when I picture them, they come out wingless. Wierd. Anyway, this is a very nise poem (it's funny how many people have this same sort of idea of fairies dancing at night. Hannah W. and I, both did poems kind of like this...Tell me, are we silly or geniuses?) It reminds me of the part in the Peter Pan movie, when the fairies are dancing in the tree. I loved that part...
(I personally think that fairies have short, curly, chestnut or yellow hair, just to let you know. And if I think they have long hair, then it's always up...except for guys, obviously.)

Actually, this poem was inspired in part by that part in Peter Pan with the fairies dancing...love that moment!
And I think we're geniuses. ;)

Ok, I am now saying more......I really like this. I can picture everything. I especially like the line:
"Tiny figures dart acorss the twilit sky".

When I was little, I used to
When I was little, I used to write reams of poems on scenes like the one you describe in this poem, only mine were never anywhere near this good (in those days I had somehow come under the conviction that it wasn't a poem unless it rhymed - a belief I am still struggling to overcome. Not to worry, I have since been instructed on the finer points of poetic license.)
Anyway, well done.

I just love that line. I can picture the dainty little footwear lying hidden in the tall grass.
Awesome job, Raine, I love it!
