The clock on the wall
it's mocking me, I think
and the seconds are marked
by the drips of the sink
The ticking, dripping,
scratching, scrape
I sit at the window,
I watch and I wait
The phone's almost sleeping
it sits there, won't ring
though I sigh in frustration
it's rather annoying
I can't sit and read
can't stay still long enough
and yet at the same time
I don't want to get up
The wind may blow
and the trees may sway
but nothing else happens, it seems,
as I go through the day
The mailman hasn't come yet
I wait for the sound
of a letter in the slot
of footsteps on the ground
Music's no comfort
the songs are too long!
I can't stop thinking
it's not fair, this is wrong!
I bite my fingers,
I worry, I fret
I guess the word 'soon'
is one they just don't get
Has it really only been five minutes?
It feels like forever,
a century, eternity,
eons, whatever
It feels like a long time
becuase this isn't fun
I just cannot wait
Till the waiting is done!
