Mmph
I must have been going through my
Rebellious phase
As I skim back through my
Nose crinkles up in a way
That signifies my distaste
It's really quite strange how quickly a change
Can happen to someone in the span of some days
Ticked off so quickly if you're not sat there counting
I click away and go back to
My 12 am browsing
Mornings
I am so ready
To get out
For now
For a little while
I think of it and am excited
I think I even love the nights
Where we climb the ladder at the days end
And the countdown diminishes and dims
Swapping stories of boys that only
Partially exist
We wait eagerly for tomorrow to begin
And it's lonely and hot and brashly benign
Those mornings are the very best times
Pointed feet
Nails black because I
am embracive of edginess
When in reality I knot my brain
to the size of a fist
and worry that because I read it
I am opening up the possibility of it becoming
my reality
Oh, distorted bias
my friend and foe
great enemy though
I don't know
why when I could push it away
and stop dreaming about the cashier saying
your nails are black/
what's your name
I'm Fine
In retrospect
I think I've given you
The benefit
Of the doubt
Now the ache has gone away
There's only a slight fuzziness when I
Recall your name
No more mental hunching and grasping at straws
You're not who I wanted you to be
No, not at all
And it wouldn't have lasted
Was distraught but I saw
The truth laced in your
Post-friendship stance
I'm more than okay now
I need no resistance
Facets
He can make an effort too
She says as the coffee hits her lips
They've gone without exchange for days
She knows quiet does not signify an end
She says that she'll wait for him to approach
And they can go back to being omnipresent
Sarcasm
I always laugh until the
Breath is gone from my lungs
And there's a brick in my chest
So hard and then find shallows to
Dip my whiplashed replies in
Object of Affection
I think I chose him
because his smile sits better with me
than the truth
Gift
Lights dim
Somberly
You clap
Impulsively
I can't keep from
Laughing
Have to stare into my lap
And steel myself not to burst aloud
Shoulders shaking
Spirit fraying
It's the best kind of feeling
Anyone can give
It's the best kind of surprise
Unintentional gift
You'd be shocked if you counted
All the smiles you give
I've been refreshingly absent from the homepage for a while. I've earned a pat on the back. Btw, Object of Affection was written ages ago. I found it cleaning out my desk the other night and decided to include it.

Omg!!!!
I can't even start to express how much I love these!!!! One of your best batches I think ;) they were both complex and simple, shorter but so impactful! I love how deep your poems are, but so easy to jump into.

I read these a few days ago
I read these a few days ago but haven't had the chance to comment. I loved Pointed feet: "why when I could push it away
and stop dreaming about the cashier saying
your nails are black/
what's your name"
I'm Fine rang really true for me, especially: "And it wouldn't have lasted
Was distraught but I saw
The truth laced in your
Post-friendship stance
I'm more than okay now
I need no resistance"
I LOVED facets, especially the part about the coffee hitting her lips. It evoked such a clear image.
"It's the best kind of surprise
Unintentional gift
You'd be shocked if you counted
All the smiles you give" that was so lovely. As was Object of Affection.
This was a great set! You have a way of ending poems, those are almost always my favorite parts :)
