One-word Poem

Submitted by Madeline on Fri, 01/21/2011 - 20:56

I’m gonna write me a one word poem

It’ll be jus’ the best in the world!

Won’t take me no work

But me eyes and me head

So as I won’t be haften’

So tired as to go to bed

I’ll get some rewards

And some “complishments” too

The only thing is

I’m jus’ only two!

I dunno how to write

I dunno how to spell

I dunno how speak

Least, not very well

But me mommy says, “brillant”

Or is she just lyin’

But I want to write somethin’

That’ll leave ‘em all sighin’

Cause they take me a fool

I ‘spose from their speakin’

Their voice gets all high

So high it starts squeakin’!

So they think I’m not wise

Not enough to write somethin’

But I’ll tell you what, people

I’m more than a “lil’ pun-kin’

I’m handsome and pretty
All wrapped up in one

And I like to do more

Than play toys and have fun

So I’ll write me now

A one word poem

That the whole worl’

Will soon hav’ ta know

And they’ll read it o’er again

More than once, more than twice

They’ll see me as smart

In their dumb eyes

Ah, I ‘sposed to be bitter

Bitter ‘nough for two

But guess what?

I’m gonna show YOU!

That I ain’t sum lump

Sitting on their onna shelf

I got more ta me

Or else I got nothin’ else!

So I’m gonna write me

A one- word poem

Jus’ Too bad my head can’t

Hold no words to know!

That was cute!  So funny too; I could just see the little kid making faces at the adults.

I know! Isn't this great!

Write On!

I loved the thought process of a very young child that you brought out in this! It is very easy to imagine a child thinking these thoughts! Very well done!  I actually loved the child-words. When a young child is thinking or speaking, they might often use slang or smaller words. You did a fantastic job of putting them into a poem!

Yes--I loved doing this poem! It was SO much fun! I think the best mindset is that of a child...haha! :) Thanks Bridget, Wings of Eternity, and the soul sista sitter Kassady! (wink, wink, Kassady?) LOL!
