Promise Lyrics

The song is soft and mellow, played solely on guitar. It relies a lot on a soft but lively vocal and a repetitive tune. Ideal for listening with a mug of hot cocoa and a blanket on a rainy day.

V1:

Alone, occasionally,
My mind and- all my feelings
Escape me for you - my brain can’t work right ‘cause I’m scared-
Why did you leave?
(Are) we still talking?

PreCH:

Are you hurting ‘cuz you’re mine?
I just wanna blow your mind.
Every move - I make - you just match and walk away.
(I) set it up like no big deal,
Swore every bit was real.
But if I’m honest, I don’t believe myself.

Ch:

I want you to be your light, baby,
You should be your light.
So I’ll never hurt you-
And your smile you won’t leave too.
I want you to be your night, baby,
You could be your night.
Light your path and own your glow
We’ll pinky promise right now.

Oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh

Light your path and own your glow-
We’ll pinky promise right now.

B:

If you feel lonely, oh-oh
Promise it all to me, oh-oh
Several times a day, oh-oh
Don’t throw yourself away, oh-oh
Oh-oh

My, my love, oh-oh

Pause this moment with me
Tangle together our pinkies
Now promise it all to me, oh-oh
Oh-oh

Notes
So, a group of my friends and I are all very interested in songs in different languages. The big ones are French, Arabic, and Korean. A song called Promise was released very recently (it's originally in Korean), and I was challenged to write English lyrics to it. The timing was absolutely terrifying because Korean words tend to be much longer than English equivalents, but this is what I ended up with. Hope you like it!
