I have loved the sparrow
So small, so weak;
Cupped him in my hand,
Soothed his frightened,
Tremulous voice,
Taught him to mount the skies
Afraid no longer.
I was listening to a song that I didn't know the words to, and I heard what sounded like 'I have loved the sparrow', which immediately took shape in my mind as this poem.

This was short, but really
This was short, but really effective. You had great imagery in few words. :)

I love...
I love misheard song inspired poems! This poem is really well done. Simple, well worded, smooth and easily flowing. It's flawless!
Love it!

Beautiful!
I love it when I misunderstand a song and it inspires something--my Apricot Pie serial "The Shadowfields" actually came from a combination of a misunderstood song in which I thought I heard "Walking, stumbling, through these shadow fields..." and watching The Secret Garden shortly thereafter.
And this poem was beautiful. Well done.

Brother: Your character should drive a motorcycle.
Me: He can't. He's in the wilderness.
Brother: Then make it a four-wheel-drive motorcycle!
I love this- it's very short
I love this- it's very short but simple. Have you ever read "the road not taken" by robert frost? That's one of my favorite poems and, although the meaning and length and everything are different, I kind of get the same feel when I read this poem. I don't know, it's hard to explain, but I love this poem. :)
See him with his books:
Tree beside the brooks,
Drinking at the root
Till the branch bear fruit.
See him with his pen:
Written line, and then,
Better thought preferred,
Deep from in the Word.

Short, cut to the point, and creates a lovely little image.

This reminds me of some of Emily Dickinson's poems. I love it.
