I sat with Faylin and Ditri around the campfire that the latter had provided. Suddenly, something cracked in the woods. Neither wolf nor dragon appeared to notice. What was that? I wondered. ‘Why don’t you come check it out?’ My thoughts replied and I jumped. Why was I thinking that? I excused myself and wandered towards the sound. “No weirdo, over here.” hissed a voice. I jumped again and spun around. “Who’s there?” I looked back over my shoulder towards the camp for help, but saw no fire. My heart began to race. “That’s, because Ditri and Faylin do not currently exist. Don’t worry though, they’ll be back.” I spun around once again to face a short, petite girl with shoulder length blonde hair and glasses. “My name is Kay.” She added. “Well, that and Caeli and, Katrina and Kat and KJ,” She shrugged. “But whatever.” “Uh, I’m—“ I started. “Lara, I know.” The girl nodded. I cocked my head at her. “You do? How?” “Because I wrote you, duh!” She slapped her forehead and then looked down accusingly at her hand. That’s when I knew for sure that ‘Kay’ was insane. She looked back at me. “See; your making me crazy. You’re not going where you’re supposed to be and right now you should be miles and miles away and nearing the real adventure! But of course not, you are just sitting there, looking like an open mouthed dummy!” She exclaimed, throwing her hands up in exasperation. “I can see you’re mad, alright,” I muttered. “That isn’t very nice you know, muttering. Just remember that I can hear whatever you are thinking too.” She cannot, I thought. “Don’t deny it, I can. I wrote you and—haven’t we already gone over this? Never mind, right now you need to come with me.” She beckoned with an outstretched hand. “You’re kidnapping me?!” I exclaimed. “No, of course not.” She replied impatiently as if she could not believe that I would accuse her of such a thing. “I control you. If I say ‘come’, then you come. So you are coming of your own free will.” I tried to process what she was saying. She was obviously delirious but I felt suddenly that I needed to go with her. I walked over to her. “How do you know me?” I asked again, slowly. She shook her head like I was a lost cause. “I made you remember? Man you are a dim character.” “Hey!” I protested. “That was an insult!” Kay shrugged. “So?” “So…” I tried to reply. “”You’re sappy too. I need to edit you girl.” She looked annoyed and disgusted. “Come on, we are wasting time. Right now you need to go back and tell Ditri to go southwest, let’s get this show on the road!” “Huh? There is no road.” “Oh just go on!” she cried. “Listen, you are not cooperating but people want me to finish this so get a move on or else I will kill you and make everybody mad. That actually sounds tempting right now…” She trailed off, a peculiar smile on her face. “I may be back later, but by then I will have edited this out and so technically speaking you will have never known me I will have to explain myself all over again.” Kay groaned. “Have to say that I’m not looking forward to that.” She sighed heavily. “Adios!” “Ah-de-ose?” I asked. “Another time.” I watched her walk into the forest, when she reached the trees she spun around and smiled. Smoke appeared and she twirled into it, becoming enveloped in the cloud and disappearing from view. A chuckle came, “Always wanted to do that.” “Yikes!” I yelped. “Yikes!” I yelped. “Yikes!” I yelped. Another low, echoing chuckle came from the smoke as it began to fade. “This is so fun.” I was officially freaked out then, but it was over in an instant. The smoke faded away suddenly, as if blown by a wind and I was left standing in the forest alone and wondering what on earth had just happened. Then, I no longer had to wonder for there came a distant ripping sound that seemed to come from the sky and then silence. I walked back to the campfire, with no idea why I had left in the first place.

That would be awesome
That would be awesome wouldn't it? I especially liked the part where you disappeared in a poof of smoke or mist or whatever and you said you'd always wanted to do that. :-)

True....some characters are
True....some characters are decidedly stuck in thier own messed up selves we gave them (ironically) and we have no heart to improve them. *snorts* THAT was well-put, what? Anyway...i still like the idea. DARN IT! Last comment! WHY??? WHY!?!?!?!?
I'll stop being dramatic and spamming Kay's comments. *smiles innocently*
I like this, Kay :) I'll have
I like this, Kay :) I'll have to do one of those some time, 'cause one of my characters isn't cooperating. Mary did one of these on her blogs a while back. I think it's a very clever idea. And it proves Calvanism ;)

In reply to I like this, Kay :) I'll have by Laura Elizabeth
I like. :)
One time a crazy writer friend of mine and I came up with a story ...where we, the two authors, could somehow write ourselves into our worlds -she'd write us in her world, I'd do it in mine, and it was great fun "meeting" the characters and working out the problems of dimension-traveling. =D
I did this same type of thing
I did this same type of thing in my Nano trying desperatly to get the characters to do what they were supposed to. Only, there i actually went as a elf/feary who was a real character not just 'me'. now, as I'm editing it, I see that I'm going to have to pretty much take out this character which will lose some very nice scenes but otherwise, it just doesnt work.

Joel and Abigail
So, in my NaNo, I had Joel, the runaway son of the Shoshanah--preacher/doctor/singer figure--and Abigail, the Shoshanah's adopted daughter. Abigail tried to rescue Joel from the evil fortress, but the power of evil struck her down....to make a long story short, Joel needed to heal Abigail.
This is my conversation with him:
Me: Joel, get your grey rose self in here
You called
Heal her.
Why?
Heal her.
Shan't
Heal her, or so help me I will kill you via Kadosh!*
Is that even possible?
I will make it possible! Heal her!
*Kadosh is an overwealming longing for rightousness, kind of like the sea-hunger in Tolkien's Noldor.
But I ended up making it so Joel would also die if Abigail did and then he got cooperative.

LOL--too funny with all these
LOL--too funny with all these author-character interation stories! :0)
I like this Kay! Your sis started something! Although I have to admit that I did insert myself in one story merely to insult the bad guy. It was fun.
These conversations are exactly why everyone who isn't an author thinks that everyone who is an author are all crazy.
@Kestrel--OK, I so want to read your NaNo story, especially since its an extension of Three Dark Roses. Have I mentioned this before? :0)

We should start a new catagory for author-charrie interactions. It's so fun, isn't it?
