Poetry Hates Me

Submitted by KatieSara on Thu, 03/12/2009 - 20:50

A rather exaggerated account of being frustrated with an uncooperative poem.

**********************************

Obstinate words! refusing to rhyme,
Simply becoming a waste of my time.
Crumple the paper, drop the pen.
Don't even want to SEE that line again!

Why do I bother? The more I insist,
The more these stubborn syllables resist!
I'm no poet, why even try?
One more failed idea...I'll start to cry!

I need a breather; now my head hurts.
I'm taking a break from these heartless words!
I'll try again later, but for now I believe
That poetry hates me, and-- GAH!
I need a word that rhymes with believe!
*sigh*

Wow! You have no idea how much I identyfy with you. Rediculous poems, why don't they cooperate?
Luckly, I have discovered some wonderful tools that can be used to help solve the problem--my mom's amazing brain and the World Wide Web:):) LOL

Ha ha! you sound like Alecia! I love this poem. It makes me laugh. And yeah, OFG, the internet is poetry saving (or life saving as the case may be). If I ever put together a book full of all my favorite poems, this will be the poem that I put on the inside cover.

"It's not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you." from Batman Begins

Yes. I try to avoid poems if at all possible, (terrible things).

Lol, funny. I also try to avoid poetry....

I'm glad to see I'm not alone.

I'm glad some people like it, and can relate to it! lol. I'm actually having trouble with a couple of poems right now. Why must they be so stubborn? grr!

I can't believe I never read this before!  It's hilarious!  I like the last stanza.
