*I feel like such a copycat...but for the record, I have been planning to do this for a while. I hereby follow in the footsteps of certain APers before me and share with you some random odds and ends that have been swept up from the floor of my imagination; or rather, from the pages of my writing journal.
-Quite Contrary-
Come on in,
Fill your plate!
Just don't forget
To lose the weight.
-Scene From Untitled Story-
Looking around, Max espied a familiar figure lying on the ground.
"Henrietta!"
He ran to her. Others gathered around, their attention caught by the prince's distraught cry. Rain flew (literally) to them, as Max gathered the unconscious girl into his arms.
"Henrietta! Can you hear me?" No response. He looked around frantically. "What do I do?! Help me!" Rain flitted over and yanked on his hair to get his attention.
"What are you doing here?! What...what was she doing here?" A very confused, very distressed prince was on the verge of breaking into very unmanly sobs. Hence, hearing, "SHUT UP!" come sharply from the tiny fairy was like a slap in the face.
"But-"
"I said shut up!"
"But-" he stopped, expecting another interruption. Rain, however, just glared a withering glare at him.
"Look at her!" he said. "What is wrong? What should I do?!?!" Here came the tears again.
"Kiss her," Rain said.
"What?"
"KISS HER!! Didn't you ever read fairytales?"
"Well, yes, but-"
"Just do it! You love her, don't you?"
"Of course I do!" He didn't realize what he had said until after he'd said it. At that point he started to blush, suddenly noticing the small crowd that had gathered. He coughed uncomfortably.
"KISS. HER."
He looked down at the still face he knew so well, forgot everything else, and did as he was told.
It took a couple of seconds, but slowly he saw the corners of her mouth start to twitch. And then suddenly, she was...laughing?
Yes, laughing hysterically! She rolled onto the ground and laughed some more. Max put his head in his hands. It was just too much. Rain didn't understand either.
"You were FAKING?!" she almost screamed.
"Yes," giggled Henrietta, "And it was so very, very funny." She broke out into chuckles anew.
"Never, EVER do that to me again!" said Max.
"I promise," she said. "But," a mischievous twinkle in her eyes, "You can feel free to kiss me again."
Max then blushed for the second time that day.
-Wind-
If only the wind could speak,
Then what stories it could tell!
Of leaders strong and weak,
Of armies fair and fell.
Of warriors from distant lands,
Or of maidens fair;
Fighters with their swords in hand,
Ladies with golden hair.
Tales of honor lost and gained
Tales both happy and sad
Tales of love not always sustained
Tales of the noble and the bad.
-High Hopes-
Wishing, dreaming, planning,
The future draws ever near.
And ambitions rise to greater heights
With every passing year.
-Cry In The Dark-
She awoke with a start. Nervously pushing back her tousled black hair, she listened to the silence. The night was peaceful and the only sound was the soft snoring of a dog sleeping outside her window.
Why?
As she tried to get back to sleep, echoes of the cry which had jolted her from dreams haunted her imagination. She had heard it far too many times before. At least, she thought she had. Dreams -if that's what this was- had a habit of playing tricks on one's memory.
-Lost Self-
(inspired in a strange, indirect sort of way by Hannah W.'s poem My Name)
I don't know how I got here. I don't know where I am, or where I used to be. I don't know why, or what, or who.
Who is the man over there? The woman over here? The child crying, the dog barking. They do not look like me. What do I look like? Have I changed from how I was before?
(Before what?)
There is a puddle. I gaze at my reflection. I do not seem to have changed from....from what? What was life before this moment? I must know...yet I do not.
I am pale. Thin, almost wispy...weak. Small. Afraid.
Their skin is darker than mine. They are tall, blocky...strong.
I feel as a child in an imaginary world of giants.
-Dizzy-
Everything spinning around
So fast I can barely see
Somebody come along, quick!
Come and rescue me!
-Wet Ponderings-
It's raining.
I look up
A drop hits my face
And I smile.
Looking down I see
Drops hitting the pavement
Making tiny splashes
In which are contained
A reflection of the world
-Sisters-
(I wanted to make a poem of The Shadow of the Bear by Regina Doman, but this is as far as I got.)
Two sisters in the big city
Different in temperament as sisters can be.
Snow White is calm, quiet and shy.
Rose Red is outgoing, ready to try
Some new adventure, while Snow White holds back,
Afraid of all that is evil and black.
