Beauty Lost

He gave her not a crown
He gave her not a diamond ring
but gave the shine of his eyes and
a broken moonbeam

They’d say until her ears ran dull
that the sky’s limit was only
as high as towers could reach
and stained glass windows were nothing holy

And everything they understood
they couldn’t understand
too empty to know that
beauty’s too free to lie captive

in your hand.

I love this. Your imagery was beautiful. "a broken moonbeam" I really loved that line.

Everything is lovely about this. It gave me the feeling like I was walking through an old book shop.

Oh, so precious. Lovely job, really.

Ditto to all of the above comments! Love this! The flow, the wording, the imagery... wonderful! I had to reread the last lines... WOW! Powerful, and so well put and worded! Love it!
