Just Begun

The dreaming, it was the start
the first beat of an unbroken heart
it was like we had
never been apart

My dearest, are you sleeping?

We are dreams and we are dreaming
we are sunlight, we are streaming
we are the fire,
skyward leaping
Oh my dearest, are you sleeping?
We are waking, it is dawn
the earth is shaking, see it yawn
its first breath is yet
to be drawn
My dearest, are you sleeping?
We are the dream and we are drifting
through the ocean sand is sifting
The birthsong to the skies is lifting
and we are waking, we are taking
our first breath…
Sleep no more, my sweetest one
turn your face to the blinding sun
this is the first morning and it’s only

Oh wow. I think this is one of your best yet, Hannah (of course, basically all of your poetic masterpieces are your best yet.). Wonderful.

I love this. I think my favorite line is we are the dream and we are drifting, through the ocean sand is sifting...it brings an image to my mind, of a beach nearby our house. There are flecks of some sort of shiny rock mixed with the sand there, and when it sifts through the ocean it looks as if the water were filled with glitter. And another favorite ( I like all of them, actually) is the chorus--my dearest, are you sleeping? It's like a lullaby in reverse. It's lovely.
