The Tiger and the Fish

Down, down, down
He goes.
Swimming down
Into the deep.

Deeper, deeper, deeper
He dives,
Ignoring everything
As he sinks.

The panic rises,
His breathing
Shallow as the air
Explodes around him.

Beneath his hands,
Grasping underneath,
His prey, in fear,
Evades its defeat.

Downwards they go,
Each in his own
Way, ignoring his
Instinct to run.

The fleeing prey,
Unaware of defeat,
Continues to run,
Until exploding with fear.

The pursuing predator,
Unaware of his doom,
Lunges deeper,
Into the arms of death.

The prey is caught,
The predator wins,
But both have lost
As the air escapes.

The cat hates the water,
Which is now its grave.
The fish hates the land,
Of which his killer is made.

Both trapped in death.
Both under the sea.
Both claimed by fear,
And pure stupidity.

Well done!

"Both trapped in death.
Both under the sea.
Both claimed by fear,
And pure stupidity. "

I really like your choice of words there, Elizabeth! And the rest of the poem was great too. :)

Goodbye? Oh no, please. Can’t we just go back to page one and start all over again?” – Winnie The Pooh

I love this!! It's so unique! The rhythm is super cool too, it really builds the anticipation.

The cat hates the water,
Which is now its grave.
The fish hates the land,
Of which his killer is made

That part is the best!
