Destination City

1. Unnecessary Sharing
He slides his eyes sideways to capture my reaction
I work hard to keep my face unchanged
It’s okay, no big deal
I didn’t ask for his opinion anyway.

2. Emote
Your face is an open book
You can transform into someone else
In an instant
I’m getting tired of trying to keep up
With your mood swings and changes
It’s too hard to help somebody
Who is so far gone.

3. Destination City
I think I am city folk
I thought I would be one of those people
To have a slice of land
A ranch house
A horse and a couple of cattle
But now I see beauty
In the honking cars and hot pavement
The hot dog stands and city lights
I see the appeal
In the people everywhere I go
The beggars, the businessmen
The tourists, the venders
I see that my heart lies
In the city that never sleeps.

4. You Made Me Feel Special
It’s just so sweet
That you took the time
To tell me what I needed to hear
From you.

5. Summer Class Exhaustion
No me gusta hablar espanol
Tengo sueno, no deseo hacer tarea
Hablo ingles, no hablo extranjeras lenguas!

Been taking Spanish for the last three weeks at the college EVERY DAY and trying to cram a year's worth into 6 weeks. My last one was just a little venting about that lol. Couldn't do accent marks, and I don't even know if I did it right, so if you speak Spanish, pardon my faulty grammar.

Okay. Favorite poem of yours. Ever. Is the first one. I read it about five times. I can practically SEE the paranoid feeling as its shrugged off. It's so palpable. So simple, but evocative. It's one of those magic poems where every word clicks into place and it's almost scary just how much it resonates.

And kudos to you for doing Spanish! Ahh...I need to be taking French. I haven't done any over a year. Comment vas-tu? :P (that's about the extent of my knowledge). And I know zero Spanish. Soooo...

I love the second one, too. The last two lines are so true. :P Unfortunately.

And I love number four as well. You've done a great job, Erin! Keep it up!

Thank you so much! Yeah, Spanish is cool, I was just sick of doing homework lol. Where I am, probably about 50\% or more of the population is Spanish speaking, so I definitely hear it a lot which makes it pretty easy. I also did 3 years of Latin, and after that ALL languages are easy haha. I would love to speak French! My future college major will be directly involved with languages, so ideally I will become one of those mysterious multilingual people :)

I've tried like twice to comment on this and either one of my technical devices die or I get sidetracked! Sorry!
These are great, and I loved each and everyone! Ditto to pretty much everything Homey said!
Can't wait to read your next post :)
Love!
