Woodpecker Outside My Window

Submitted by Clare Marie on Sat, 07/10/2010 - 00:46

**I'm not sure where exactly this came from....All I know is, my original source of inspiration was a family of woodpeckers that were roosting in a birch tree outside our cabin while we were on vacation in Canada.  What do you think?**

Rising up early Greeting the sun I step out into golden day I don’t know why I look up and sigh At the Woodpecker outside my window     Falling down sobbing Wiping my tears I come back wearied, sore, and cold I don’t know why I tremble and fly With no Woodpecker outside my window     Softer sun shining Chasing the dark Winter has turned into spring I don’t know why I smile and cry For the Woodpecker outside my window
