What is love?

It is not enough to be understanding --

Love is a soul to soul choice

That goes beyond comprehension.

It is not enough to be passionate --

This involves the senses

Which shift and melt with the seasons

And have nothing to do with the heart.

It is not enough to be tolerant -- 

A person is known by his works

And must be urged on to higher goals.

It is not enough to be blissful --

For joy is found in enduring trials

And suffering is possible through forgiveness.

It is not enough to pray for better days --

Love is finding balance between good and evil

So that each day is brightened with the same hope

Because you are the answer to your own prayer.

It is not enough to be at peace --

We must be in harmony with each other

For then we can, without fearful reserve,

Share our beliefs with each other

And then we can find the truth.
