Feet up on the dash
Wiggling my toes
10 splashes of Kiss Me Coral
- orangey sparkly rose –
Delight me so
Fresh cotton smell,
Tickles my nose
Pillow warmed from the sun
Smashed against the window
I adjust my seatbelt, fidgeting
A book dips
From my fingertips
Place lost before the ending
By looking out my window:
Over there! Falcon on the wire
I think about how we’re flying
Going 70 mph
Nodding off, I’m dreaming
About galloping horses along the road
We’re adventurers! Travelers! Explorers!
Evil to vanquish, good to uphold!
We zoom past other pilgrims
Heading for other places, excursions
or home
Exit sign looms ahead
Scrubby lawns,
Neighborhood trees
The end of our street
So happy to be here,
The destination in hand
But a tiny part of me
Wishes the road
Had never end
Love it!
I remember road trips like that...before the dogs got relegated to the backseat with me! :0) No, really, I like the poem and the skipping thoughts, just like it would be going through a person's mind. It's really cool!
