Vivid colors of far-off places
Dancing along with happy faces
Ink spotted from salty air
Far away from this mountain lair
And signed by friends in distant spaces
Pictures presented of world travels
Places I long to see unveiled
I smile in delight at the shiny cards
Symbolistic of adventurers start
Posted from across the world
My smile fades and I look around
Same old place, same old town
Insecurities, responsibilities,
Life grounded in adiposity
Worries and clutter abound
Magnet on the fridge right there
Reminds me of loved friends when I stare
Just glimpsed, the world calls
Reminds me I have not seen all
A second daydreaming does not seem fair
Although present, it's naught but a quiet regret
Which I would not have if travel set
Miss the dance, I do indeed
But life beckons and I accede
Don't wave goodbye, I’ll see you yet!
This is still pretty rough, but I hadn't posted in a while and thought I might toss this one up. I'd love advice on it!

Nice poem, I like it.

The quality of mercy is not strain'd;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath: it is twice blessed;
It blesseth him that gives, and him that takes
"Sometimes even to live is courage."
-Seneca

I have to say I love postcards as well. I've gotten a couple, but my favorite is one I got from my big brother when he was in Texas.
And I love the poem too =]
