Christopher Paolini, the author of the Inheritance trilogy, was born on November 17, 1983 in Southern California. Besides a few years in Anchorage, Alaska he has spent most of his life in Paradise Valley, Montana where he is still living with his family.
Christopher was homeschooled by his parents up until he finished high school at fifteen. He grew up listening to a variety of music but says that classical music helped him write his books. His first book, Eragon, took three years to write and publish. Since this was only a self publication so the news of it did not spread very fast.
The Paolini family spent the next year promoting the book across the U.S in libraries, Bookstores and high schools. For most of the presentations Christopher dressed up in a medieval outfit to get into the spirit of his writing.
In the summer of 2002, Carl Hiaasen, whose stepson acquired a copy of Eragon, saw that it was self published. He brought this up to a publisher named Alfred A. Knopf and he got the rights to publish this book and the rest of the trilogy.
Christopher says that when he is done writing this trilogy he is going to take a vacation where he will ponder ideas for more stories.
