Julie Gilbert a fourteen year old girl rolled over in her bed and gave her alarm a wack. She sat up and looked at the alarm clock "7:00" She sighed to herself. She flipped off her sheets and stood up and went into the bathroom to get ready for her first day of school.

As soon as she was dressed she went downstairs and ploped down at the kitchen table. "Good morning!" Her mom said to her. "Hhhmmm." Julie mumbled "Now honey, I know your a little nervous about your first day of school. But you'll make lots of new friends and.." "Why did we have to move??" Julie asked her mom cuting her of on her sentence. "I had to leave all my friends during the middle of the summer" Julie sighed. "I know this is hard on you honey. It's probably just as hard on you brother." Her mom told her. "Good morning." Jake, Julies 16 year old brother said coming into the kitchen. "Sure" Julie said to her mom. Her mom let out a sigh. "Well you two better get going or you'll be late for school" Her mom told her. "Whatever." Julie said puting her backpack on and grabing her lunch. "See you after school mom!" Jake said and ran out the door to catch up with his sister.

"Why do you act like that?" Jake asked Julie as soon as he cought up to her. "Oh I dont know lets see," Julie said and stopped walking. "Mom made us move during the middle of the summer, I had to leave all of my friends, and I had to quit the school's basketball team." Julie Told him and started walking again. " I wish mom and dad never got divorced" Julie complained. "It's always about you isnt it?" Jake asked Julie as he stoped walking. "What??" Julie asked him turning around. "You never stop and think about anyone other then yourself. You think your the only one the Divorce has afected. Well did you ever think of how hard this is on mom? She had to get a new job, new house, and plus you acting like this doesnt help. I mean yeah I miss my old friends too and the old school, but just think about it ok?" Jake told her and started walking leaving Julie standing by herself. "I forgot somthing." Julie said running back to her house. "You better hurry or you'll br late." Jake told her. "I will. And Jake??" "Yeah?" "Thanks?" Julie yelled and started running home again.

"Mom?" Julie called as she ran through the door. "Honey whats wrong? Your going to be late for school." Her mom told her. "Mom i'm sorry for the way ive been acting" Julie told her mom. "Oh Julie, it's ok. I know how hard this has been on you." "Well yeah it kind of has been, but I should of acted better about it." Julie told her mom. "Thank you for Julie." Her mom told herand gave her a hug. "Now hurry up, or you'll be late for school." "Ok! See you after school mom!" Julie called as she ran out the door all ready for her first day of school.
