A summers eve was warm with wind,
Yet in the water swamps, forbid
Young Hylas did pace by the bank
With but a small clay water tank
A whisper was along the breeze,
But nothing of this did he foresee
When bending down to fill his tank
Without a word, it suddenly sank
A silvery lighted arm arose
Along with it, sweet lips of rose
And over the deep green waters brim
Slid a Nymph, whom gazed at him
Her eyes were dark but frozen still
With a threat to cry a thrill
But then a moment passed for she
Decided that harm none would he
And arm outstretched, so long and slim
She brought it very close to him
And then her cool sweet touch did dawn
On his arm, for ever long
Her face was blessed with waters kiss
And droplets found no place to miss
Her neck was long and poised at him
And ready were her legs, so slim
And no word did she utter yet,
But he knew not, what he would get
When her shimmering arm did touch
His heart did feel a little rush
And suddenly in her deep eyes
He did see a sight that brought surprise
For in that gaze, from heaven above
He did see but a sigh of love
And closer did she wriggle near
Until her body did appear
Completely seated on the bank
And heavens did young Hylas thank
For she was more beautiful then
A woman that came from heaven
and just one second did they feel
a little pull on both their reels
Of heart and soul, of tinted cheek
a different love he had never seen
and share this love, they did indeed
Hylas fell, and none could impede
And in her hand, did sit his own
and closer down did they both go
under the blanket of emerald green sea
with one last glance, they were never seen
Some say it was a trick of Fae
and that he was killed, and to this day
his body lies beneath the swamp
for signs to other soldiers lost
Yet some believe, it was indeed
a love that came a suddenly
and to this day they live below
hands enclasped, in a deathly chokehold
