Hi - My name is Catie and I am 9 years old. I live on the coast about 1 mile from the beach. Today we saw about 11 bottlenose dolphin frollicking near the shore - very near. It seemed that they wanted to play with us, too.

Living near the ocean is great because it is cooler in the Summer and warm in the winter. There is a long bike trail that goes all along the coast. It is lots of fun to ride bikes there. I have a little sister (2) and brother (1). They are so much fun to play with them whenever the day seems sad or dreary. They can always make me laugh.

I like to read adventure stories and humorous ones, too. Moby Dick is one of the few stories that I am able to see BEFORE I read the book. The book seems kind of hard for me. I know the story, though, from my family who told me all about the great white whale and Captain Ahab. I love stories of the sea.

I can't wait for the summer when I can go to the beach, play, fly my kite high up over the sand, search the ocean with my binoculars for whales and dolphins and drink a super cold iced tea. What fun! Then I come home smelling like the ocean and the wind. Mama kisses me and tells me "Catie, you are as brown as a berry from the sun today." Then, after I take a shower, I fall asleep cozy and happy by the fireplace. (It gets very chilly at night here, even in the summertime.)
