One day my friend came up to me and said I should write a book based on my tennis life. At first I thought, no way, my life is too complicated to write down on paper. After thinking about it for a few weeks I decided to give it a try. Here is my tennis life for you.
My name is Hailey Rochin and I am 14 years old. I have green eyes the color of well kept up grass in the summer. I don't know what color my hair is anymore. I dyed it when I went on vacation with my family to Rhode Island a redish brown color. I wish I had long legs like my sister Tatum, but, my height comes from my dads side. Short and stocky. Don't get me wrong I like being short. It has it's advanteges, for example, I get to boss around my brother to reach the high stuff in the kitchen because I can't reach.
I started playing tennis when I was about six years old. I had one of thoes cheap 27 dollar racquets you get from Wal-Mart. Our family lived in Abeline texas at the time. Abeline is a medium sized city in the middle of nowhere, north of Dallas. Anyways, my dad came home in the late afternoon and showed me what he bought. He had a can of new tennis balls in one hand, and a new shiny pink Serena Williams racquet in the other. I didn't know which one to pick. The balls looked bouncy and fun but, the racquet looked like a princess wand. Give me a break! I was six! My father took me out onto a tennis court and showed me what the shiny wand was for. Only guess what? It wasnt a wand. I was a bit shocked and sad. I thought it was going to spark out flames or something. Then my dad told me to concentrate and use the racquet to hit the balls. I used all my concentration and focus I could handel and hit the ball as hard as I could! I felt like I was on top of the world! That day was the first day I started loving tennis. When the ball connected with the strings and the ball fuzz flew into the air I knew that I would never stop hitting. It is now seven years later and I am an official tennis nerd.
