Remember, my dear,

~ This is also something from my book. In the story it’s a song, but I wrote it as a poem so it works without a tune. It’s from the perspective of a mother singing to her child. ~

In the times of joy,
Of beauty and of light,
In days free of trouble—
Danger, sorrow, plight

When your life is filled
With blessings of ev’ry kind
Ne’er forget my words;
Keep them forever in your mind:

Remember, my dear,
That I love you still
I have loved you always
And I always will

When darkness blots out
The stars, sun, and moon
And when you feel
The coming of doom

When evil is pressing
Down on every side
When you want to flee
To surrender or to hide

Remember, my dear,
That I love you still
I have loved you always
And I always will

No matter what comes
Into your precious life—
The joy or the sorrow,
The ease or the strife

No matter where you go
No matter what you do
No matter who you see
No matter what they do to you

When I’m with you
And when I’m far away
May you never forget
But always hear me say

Remember, my dear,
That I love you still.
I have loved you always
And I always will

Oh my goodness this poem made me think of a song my mom sang me when I was a kid! The I love you forever I like you for always, as long as I'm living, my baby you'll be song?
Just reading this gave me sooooo many good memories and I could visualize it so well! Well done!

Dear Grace,
This is so darling <3 I love it so much! I read it a while ago and kept meaning to comment ;) Stanzas 1 and 7 are some of the ones that stood out to me among the rest as being especially rhythmic and beautiful in their meaning. Thank you so much for sharing, Grace :) I love reading your posts <3
