Perhaps you, like me, always want to know what happens next and are sad when a story ends. If so, here is something to satisfy your appetite.
Twelve years have passed since I was reunited with my family. During my final years at home, Joshua, Daniel, and Abigail—who married while I was away—provided me with plenty of nephews and nieces to keep me busy, and I was present at the weddings of both Mary and David.
I am now happily married to a wonderful Jewish man and have two daughters and a baby boy. Martha is also married and raising children, and I’ve visited her several times in the past years. I see my parents and most of my siblings about every day. Joshua and David have moved to another town not too far away, but I still see them often enough, and after each visit I thank God for reuniting me with my family. God has indeed richly blessed me.
I have not seen Naaman again, as is to be expected, and I doubt I will ever see him. However, I have heard rumors about what happened to him. How much truth they contain, I don’t know, but here’s what I’ve heard:
At first, Naaman continued as commander of Aram’s armies without a problem. As his faith grew, though, he began to struggle with his belief in God and his duty to his king. Finally, when the leader of Aram ordered Naaman to attack Israel, Naaman refused. When the king heard of Naaman’s beliefs, he was furious and took Naaman’s job, house, servants, money—everything. Yet, from what I hear, Naaman didn’t falter in his beliefs, nor fall into despair. He ended up moving to Israel with his wife and the son God gave them, and he is now serving in our army.
That is all the rest I know of his story. That is the end of his tale, and this, now, is the end of my tale. Though it was often hard and seemed hopeless, I now know that God was working through it all. He used it to grow me. At times, I wondered what his plan was. I thought my plans and my timing were better. However, I now know I was wrong. I know God had a plan through it all that was better than mine. And even when it didn’t make sense, God’s ways were best, and his plans were and always will be better than mine.
