rambles

i. royalty
do not crown me in diamonds
for they can be found everywhere
save them for the other ones
who worship them, so bare
do not crown me in rubies
with their bloody, painful glare
save them for the empty days
when rain pours and seams tear

crown me in the whitest pearls
from deep beneath the sea
culminated, over time
made for queens like me
give me necklaces of opals
to wear like a blessed wreath
whisper secrets never told
falling, soft, from tongue and teeth

ii. good angel
if we speak quite metaphorically
you're an angel, good and pure
and i'm a sinner, ever longing
hoping for things no more than lures

and if we're continuing this story
its moral we'll never know
but your innocence is the death of me
and my vice is how you'll go

but regardless of this story
its beginning and its end
our innocent atrocity
will slowly break and bend

iii. dreamcloak
i wear a cloak made of dreams
passionate blacks and shy pinks
blues and purples in spots and dots
pale violets rise from soft milky thinks
not-quite-opaque whites that shiver
reds that rise up to gently blink
and electric fuchsia shocks

but this thing i wear is an illusion
made of colors, as you know
and as the cold comes creeping in
watercolors run in snow

These have a great rhythm and very distinctive imagery. Good job!

Hey FPC! Glad to see you back. This was a lovely set! I've gotta say that this is my favorite part:
"but this thing i wear is an illusion
made of colors, as you know
and as the cold comes creeping in
watercolors run in snow"
God bless you!
