Drifting

Ripples
Spread behind.

The glass is touched;
Broken, where I’ve gone,
Clear ahead,
Quiet.

Silent trees
Stoop down to meet the water,
Hidden shores drift by;
Red-crowned mountains
Spread the lake
With twilight fire.

The owl’s cry
Echoes in the fading sun:
I must have come by dream
Into this living song
Where mountains
Speak with wild words:
“This is a shadow of the Glory”

I liked this :)
I love your wording.

I love this poem.
It feels so peaceful, and in the first verses I can almost see it happening. It makes me want to canoe down my gramma's creek... and then the owl makes me think of leaving her house late at night or early in the morning as we always do, and there are always lots of owls out then.

But most definitely - these things are a shadow of the Glory! (and it's so cool to think that if the shadow can be so great, how much greater is the Thing itself?)

Kyleigh: this is the first poem that I have written about the Glory - as of yet, the only way I know is to describe its shadow.

Anna: OK, OK.

I don't think it's possible to describe Glory... at least not fully - it would be an unending poem, because whenever you finished part of it, there'd be more to add to it from what God keeps on revealing to us. It's like infinity - we can't comprehend it, but we try just the same. It's consuming. About 3 months ago I was constantly thinking about death (more in a self-sacrifice way than any other) and it was like that. Always more to add to my thoughts on it, and just sitting in awe of Christ's sacrifice.
The Uncomprehendable is truly incredible.

I can only echo your sentiments on that, Kyleigh.
